Amazon.com's Automated Advertising team is looking for a Senior Software Design Engineer to strengthen our existing team of experienced software engineers. Our core mission is to build and operate the Internet's largest-scale fully-automated sponsored links management system. Our systems and algorithms automatically generate, target, measure, and optimize tens of millions of individual advertisements. We work with an astounding variety of technologies, ranging from web services to information retrieval, from object workflow to natural language processing, from statistical analysis to relational databases. Our customers include every business category from every major Amazon web site - you will have every opportunity to have a big impact on Amazon's business.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for our team is a thinker and a doer: someone who loves sophisticated algorithms and mathematical precision, enjoys implementing real, highly scalable systems, and is motivated by the prospect of having a real, measurable impact.

Proficiency in Java is required.

The ideal candidate is an expert in at least one language (such as C, C++, Java, or Perl).

A BS in computer science (or equivalent experience)

At least 5 years of experience is required; graduate degrees, experience building high-availability, large-scale systems, knowledge of advanced algorithms and data structures, and experience building Services Oriented Architectures (SOA) are significant plusses.

A familiarity with agile development methodologies such as SCRUM is also desired.
