My favorite charities -
St. Baldricks
Leukemia Research foundation
American cancer society
FoodforEveryone
Li tagged me (okay - this was a good cause, but no more blog tag please)
My apologies to all the folks who e-mailed who I haven’t yet caught up with. I was off in Florida visiting family getting a bit of well needed rest and relaxation - and trying to stay “unplugged” for a bit. Highlights of the trip:

Despite it being the equivalent of an e-mail chainletter - it’s a fun meme - and it’s a great way to get to know some folks of the web. Ben Wills “blog tagged” me, so here goes. After a bit of hunting, I was also tagged by DG. Props to Jeff Pulver for starting the fun little viral game.
1. I went to college part time for over 7 years (and got a bachelor’s degree). I was a waiter for several years through my college career, and think all people should have to do two jobs for at least a month in their lifetimes - wait tables and be a link monkey. The world would be a better place.
2. I played defensive tackle for my high school football team (at a whopping buck thirty five) - We were 11-1, and two wins from being state champions. I did several other sports including baseball, basketball, and pole vault. Now typing reeeeeeally fast is about the best excercise I get on most days.
3. I own a set of turntables that I mix and scratch hip-hop and breakbeat music on just for fun (sample). “stuntdubl” was my “basement dj name” for music long before it was my online seo alter ego.
4. I met my girlfriend online (yes, I like the internet THAT much).
5. There’s nearly nothing I’d rather do than spend a day deep sea fishing in florida. (Going in a few weeks - woohoo!)
I’m going to make this a little difficult and tag: Jim Boykin, Greg Boser, Todd Friesen, Aaron Wall, and see if we can get Matt Cutts to admit he was like James Bond at the NSA
Added: After digging around on some sites - three of my tags have already been tagged, so I’d like to call out Cameron, Jarrod, and Mike.

I recently spent some time doing an interview with Karl Ribas for his site. I think it came out prettty decent. Check out the interview here if you get a chance. My personal favorite answer:
As you’re well aware, Search Engine Marketing is a very fast-paced industry and has the ability to shift gears at the turn of a dime. In your opinion, where do you see the Search Engine Optimization industry being 5 to 10 years down the road?
It’ll probably be something like the movie “Minority Report” and we’ll have to fend off those creepy little soldier spiders with mirrors and magnets, and clone eyeballs to effectively market to people. Many will die in order to find the weak areas of the creepy spider AI algorithm.
Read the whole interview with Karl.

I’ll be doing a show with Cindy Turrietta and the e-marketing talkshow group tomorrow evening if you’d like to check it out. We’ll be talking about “SEO from all sides” - as a vendor, consultant, consumer, and DIY’er. I’ll post links to the podcast if I don’t suck. I talked about links with Todd Sarouhan a while back. The podcasts are now live for download.

That sure is a mouthfull. I’ve been trying to learn what the acronym ASIDIC stood for for a few weeks now - while telling people - a conference involving a key group of premium content publishers. It looks like a pretty good bunch - and I’m excited to have been invited to speak on “Are There Really New Ways to Make Money From the Web?” along with Bill Burger, VP, Marketing, Copyright Clearance Center, Elisabeth Osmeloski, Managing Editor, Search Engine Watch, and Jeffrey Massa, CEO, Yellow Brix. I’ll be sure to report back, as I’m pretty certain I’ll be learning much more from these folks at the show than they’ll be learning from me. More on the ASIDIC Conference.

I thought it was worth mentioning that I’ve recently “officially” decided to make a more long-term committment to doing independent consulting work. For now, I’ll be focusing mainly on doing site audits and developing strategies for people looking to do their own SEM work, or looking to bring a team of search engine marketers in-house.
Fortunately, so far, I’ve been too busy to take time to stop and actually write up descriptions of these type services, but I’ll definitely be trying to do that in the future (sometime). Site audits include diagnosis and remedies for on-page SEO, keyword research, off-page SEO, community networking opportunities, blog marketing, PPC, affiliate marketing, or any other applicable marketing disciplines for bringing them together for better results. Site audits are generally a one-time service with some level of follow up. Consulting and training services will focus on very similar type of information, with more extensive follow up.
If you think your company might be a good fit for training or consulting, feel free to drop me a line, or look me up at SES, and we can discuss in more detail if I’d be the right fit for your situation.
