I really should do more research on this, but the question that has been in the back of my mind for some time is “how long is a link valuable”? More specifically, if it takes 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months for a link to SHOW value in the search engines after it is posted…does it take 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months to STOP being valued after it is removed? What about a link that is placed until it receives value and then removed? How long would the value last? I don’t really have the means or dataset to test this at this point, but I have some working theories. Wondering if anyone else has worked with this. It may be another criteria to add for the valuation of text link purchase. I guess common sense would dictate that if it takes an SE a certain amount of time to “see” a link and give value for it, it would take a certain amount of time to “see” that the link was gone and devalue it. The question is…what is the halflife of link shadow?
