I didn't get a chance to read this entire thread, but it seemed rather interesting and heated at times. SEO ethics (a misnomer for sure), is always a hotly debated topic that I generally try to avoid. This thread is based around certification and standards which really falls in the same boat as far as I am concerned.

These are always interesting threads if you can spare the time, and there tidbits of people's past tend to come to light. Certification is generally just a nice thing to put on a resume, and if you are unemployed as an SEO right now, you should probably start looking for an alternate form of income anyways. If you want to make yourself popular or very unpopular in the SEO world, start yelling real loud about ethics (I think ihelpyou is the only person I've seen with a NEGATIVE reputation on SEW). I'm gonna skip the ethics discussion myself and try to get back to work. As for the certification...when I run low on business or growth I might give it a second glance. At this point I think a strong and satisfied client portfolio is the best tool you can have on both fronts.

My favorite part of the thread that I got to read (of the first few pages) from littleman:'SEO Standards' is a contradiction in terms. The very phrase makes absolutely no sense. It is like having standards for a street fight. You stick to your standard blocks, punches and other standard rules of engagement and I'll whip your ass in a fight in 4 seconds.
