Brilliance from WebGuerilla -- SEO's are Google's Best Spam Protection

Ahh...if only we could clone Greg Boser to educate more SEO's.
From a "spam report" thread at Webmasterworld:
The Google PR department is probably going to print this thread and hang it on the wall as a testimonial to the effectiveness of their spam control brain washing campaign. The only reason you thought they were able to automatically prevent that type of content from showing up is because they've spent a lot of time and money telling you that they can.

This is a very correct assumption in the fact that Google has probably spent nearly the same amount of money TELLING everyone about their fantastic technology, as they have actually SPENT on the technology. PR (that other PR) and lobbying are central characteristics for successful business. Google has spent a lot of time and money to help people believe in the quality of their search results. They are also actively providing disinformation to the SEO community and keeping SEO's misinformed and fearful. This fear and misinformation adds to an environment that promotes spam reports for the sake of discussion, and I assure you that the public discussions benefit Google much more than they do SEO's.

Please don't fill out spam reports...if you are an SEO, I guarantee that your competition likes you and has much more respect for you than Google does.

Spot on Greg, I'd be proud of my PR department if I could get the inmates to turn themselves in too. Some folks can't understand why G is so active in the SEO community. Those who appreciate the irony understand that it is most definitely sometimes better to "keep your enemies closer".
